Help the US Rugby Foundation Win Rugby Balls for Youth Teams From September 1 through September 30, the project will be available for voting. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as possible to support the project. Simply go to: http://www.refresheverything.com/aball4all to see details of the program and vote.
I am hoping I can count on your assistance. I’m not sure if you are aware of it but the Pepsi Company has a campaign going on throughout 2010 called the Pepsi Refresh Project. Every month this year, Pepsi is providing 32 organizations with cash awards. The cash awards and the number of winners at each level are:
$250,000 – Two awards
$50,000 – 10 awards
$25,000 – 10 awards
$5,000 – 10 awards
The United States Rugby Football Foundation is submitting a proposal to Pepsi in September that the public will be voting on. The award winners are based on the number of votes these organizations receive for their projects. Everyone can vote once a day for the entire month. The proposal we are sending in is called A Ball 4 All. If we are fortunate to be one of the two organizations to receive the top award of $250,000 we will use every cent of that money to purchase balls so that we would be well on our way to providing every youth and high school player registered with US Rugby their own ball.
Currently the number of youth and high school players is around 35,000 so a $250,000 award will go a long way in helping us reach our goal. As you can see, it is a big project and one that we will need assistance with from the entire US Rugby Community to make it happen.
Receiving the first ball I ever owned elevated my play as that ball rarely left my side for the next 10 years. I took that ball to school, to the store, in the car, on dates. I even slept with it. The constant handling and kicking improved my overall game and helped me get to the top of US rugby. If successful in our efforts, many of the players who will be receiving balls through the A Ball 4 All project could be representing the United States in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games and future Rugby World Cups.
I am enlisting the help of several past of current US National Team players and coaches as well as former and current internationals to provide daily testimonials to help inspire people to vote. In addition to the email blasts to our database, we will be sending out frequent reminders through Facebook and Twitter, along with press releases to the various rugby websites. While we can reapply if unsuccessful in our September campaign, in reality, we have just a one-time chance to be successful so we will be putting our entire efforts into the September push.
Thank you for your consideration and your support of the United States Rugby Football Foundation and youth rugby.
Best regards,
